Trainings

Following a public call for tender organised by Eurojust, the SAFE / EPLO consortium has been selected to implement EuroMed Justice project training component.

21 training sessions (including ToT trainings) for around 450 judges and prosecutors from South Partner Countries and EU member states are scheduled to be delivered in 2022 in four thematic areas:

  1. International cooperation in criminal matters in the Euro-Mediterranean region, including, but not limited to mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, extradition, transfer of proceedings, transfer of sentenced persons, joint investigations, parallel investigations, spontaneous exchange of information, emergency procedures;
  2. Procedural criminal law and investigative techniques – AML investigations; asset recovery and confiscation of crime proceeds; special investigative techniques; procedures to investigate terrorism cases; procedural rights for victims and defendants etc.;
  3. Criminal law – terrorism related crime; financial crime; drug trafficking; traffic of human beings; migrant smuggling etc.;
  4. Cybercrime, electronic evidence and data protection related aspects in international cooperation in criminal matters procedures

Fondazione SAFE (Security and Freedom for Europe)

Fondazione SAFE is a not-for-profit foundation aiming at promoting high-impact no-profit activities in the rule of law, security and governance sector, with a focus on European countries, Western Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa.

SAFE’s capacities are in developing, testing and implementing training programs and operational guidelines, facilitating cross-border and interagency cooperation among law enforcement agencies, networking to promote best practice exchange and monitoring and evaluating project activities. The foundation is part of the European Security and Defense College Network.

European Public Law Organization (EPLO)

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is an International Inter-Governmental Organization headquartered in Athens, Greece, whose mission is the promotion of Public Law and Good Governance throughout the world.

The EPLO’s services are focused on providing training for judges, prosecutors, civil servants and practitioners, advising national authorities for legislative and policy reforms, capacity building for public organizations, policy-oriented research, and public information activities. The Organization has the Status of Observer at the United Nations General Assembly, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

EuroMed Justice training of trainers on Cybercrime, E-evidence and Data Protection

27 – 29 September 2022 | At its premises in Athens, the EPLO conducted a training of trainers session on Cybercrime, E-evidence and Data Protection, for judges and p rosecutors from countries of the south mediterranean region, in the framework of the EuroMed Justice programme.

Training of SPCs trainers with a focus on AML, terrorism, and financial crime

12 – 14 July 2022 | SAFE is honoured to host again another a EuroMed Justice training in its premises in Soave, Verona. The EuroMed Justice programme includes the organization of 21 training sessions managed by Fondazione SAFE and EPLO and involves the participation of representatives coming from both EU Member States and South Partner Countries.

EuroMed Justice training on drugs and human trafficking for judges and prosecutors of south Mediterranean countries

28 – 30 June 2022 | At its premises in Athens, the EPLO conducted a training session on “International Efforts and Best Practices to Effectively Investigate and Combat Drug Trafficking, Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants”.

SAFE hosted a EuroMed Justice Training session on investigation techniques for money laundering and financial crimes to fight organised crime

10 – 12 May 2022 | Three days of intense training with the participation of judicial practitioners from five different South Partner Countries: this session of EuroMed Justice training concluded successfully at SAFE Foundation headquarters in Soave, Italy.

Start of training sessions for South Partner Countries

March 2022 | After the successful completion of six training sessions dedicated to European Union Member States, the SAFE & EPLO Consortium is starting the implementation of the second phase of the project, which involves nine training sessions for Judges and Prosecutors of Southern Partner Countries (SPCs), including Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine* and Tunisia.

First Phase of trainings began on February, 2022

February 2022 | The SAFE & EPLO Consortium has started with its first training activities under the EuroMed Justice Programme on the 1st of February 2022. The provision of training services for criminal justice practitioners within the framework of EuroMed Justice Programme by Eurojust and funded under by the European Commission will follow a planned schedule that will continue through the whole year.
